BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Community groups in Buffalo want to get toy guns out of the hands of children.
On Friday, Stop the Violence Coalition and the F.A.T.H.E.R.S. group hosted a toy gun exchange as part of a 'game day' at the Delavan Grider Community Center.
F.A.T.H.E.R.S. President Lenny Lane said, "What we're hoping to do here today is change the way they feel about toy guns. We want the parents to know that a toy gun today perhaps means a real gun tomorrow."
About 60 children turned out for this 'game day.' Every child that turned into a toy gun received a new toy in return, such as a basketball or football.
